Those already familiar with her music (judging by the singalongs that's most of this crowd) know to expect sharp, snappy lyrics, fine musicianship and a vocal style that feels like a shout wrapped in a fleece blanket. Not because she hadn't entertained us sufficiently, sung enough songs or given enough chat there's just something about Petrie that leaves you peckish for more of what she's serving. Politics and romance meet in a stirring live set from a singer-songwriter whose protest songs are accompanied by surprise cover versions and crowd-pleasing humourĪ promise to come back soon was the only thing that saved Grace Petrie from leaving her audience unfulfilled.
